Wow.

In spite of my differences of opinion regarding certain key issues, I do have to say President Obama's "exercise in psychotherapy" (speech, as referred to by one of the commentators) was well-written and well-presented. Whether or not he can put aside political games and bring his ideals to reality has yet to be seen. (Or compromise to find a common ground between his ideals and those who differ.) Can one man truly inspire our Nation to unite and collaborate beyond the symbolic and into the practical realms of daily life? Rhetoric sounds good, lipservice to faith and unity has been paid.... time will tell.

my obligatory inauguration day post

As I listen to ABC news coverage of President-Elect Barack Obama's inauguration, I find myself somewhat detached. I've observed the media shift from 99% negativity toward his predecessor to 120% optimism and hope.

It's not that I don't recognize the historical significance of this occasion. I am very aware and appreciative that we live in a country where someone from any race can become our nation's President.

But to hinge our nation's hopes and expectations on one man is as insane as it is to blame the other for every problem we are currently facing as a nation.
