we're insane, certifiably

hubby was off work today, and we had planned to hit the mall formerly known as opryland for weeks. well, as mentioned in comments from yesterday's post, bear had a rough night. we had a rough nightright along with her. we took her to the doctor, where the fabulous lab techs did a much better job finding her veins than my nurses did finding mine when she was born. though she wasn't tugging at her ear, she was showing early signs of an ear infection. she finally pooped, after being fed juice and fruit all day yesterday. oh, and last night, when i came home from bunko, she was hunched over on daddy's lap, angry. we tried everything... she didn't have a decent poop til we got to the doctor's office. (this is not new for her, but she had been doing so much better lately...) anyway, of course the tylenol kicked in to lower her temp there, but i told our favorite nurse practitioner what was going on, and based on the blood tests and my description she thought it could be a hint of the same old thing that everyone else is fighting... plus an ear infection.

so we stopped by the pharmacy, got the script (unfortunately not one of the new $4 generics, but covered so not TOO outrageously over-priced), got baby bear home and down for her nap. she slept for an hour and a half (fell asleep in the car, actually, and fell back asleep after being put in her crib). when she woke up, she was in a much better mood, and i knew it would be-a) shop on my own with baby bear next week. or b) all 3 of us tough it out together. we opted for option b). it was a tough call, but she loved seeing the "animals" outside the rainforest cafe. hubby and i found gifts for eachother and 2/3 of our family, and i was so proud of how well she toughed it out. i know, it was probably not the wisest thing to have her out in public, don't hate us for it. it was a tough call, being the only day we'd have to shop together on a non weekend...

when we put her down tonight, i noticed the "new" music box that she has fallen in love with was crooked. it has 2 german children on it and plays "somewhere my love". it's actually quite old. my dad gave it to me, i have fond memories of playing chinese checkers with aunt vivian and listening to it over and over and over in my grandparents' basement. aunt vivian wasn't really related to us, but she boarded with my grandparents and was like family whenever we visited my grandparents. anyway, it turns out the last time hubby took it down to wind it, bear snatched it and knocked it onto the floor... now it's crooked. i'm slightly miffed. but he will try to fix it.

anyway, it still works, and it lulled our sweet baby bear to dreamland when we finally got home tonight. she may not get to go to her cousin' first birthday party tomorrow, though..
i'm still trying to figure out how God gave us the energy to make it through the day. our afternoon nap wasn't as long as bear's.
